Springtime Snow

It's snowing...again. Seriously at this point I surrender. Snow has pistol whipped me all winter, and I give up. Here's my PIN number, you win!

But tonight, with the big floaty flakes coming down it is kind of pretty out there. I know spring is coming, I can feel it in the air, and with the days getting brighter and longer, I know this is just a minor set-back. So I decided to put my shoes on and go out on the deck and enjoy the big snowglobe-esque flakes. They are my favorite.

Gabe asked what I was doing, and I said, "I'm going outside to catch some flakes."

And this is how I know I have a really good husband - he said, "Ok, I'll come too."

So we stood on the deck. Holding out my arms I caught them on my sleeves for a closer look. They are the  elementary school paper snowflake creations. Little ninja stars of death really. But I'm choosing not to think about how shitty my commute will be tomorrow, or wonder where the hell I am going to stack this latest layer as I remove it from my driveway by shovel.

Instead I tossed my head back opened wide and caught them on my tongue. Both of us, idiots, bobbing and weaving trying to catch the biggest snow blobs we could. Chuckling at our stupidity.

Puppy was pissed. The humans left him inside. Eventually we gave in, and brought him out with us, where we fed him his first icicles which he promptly tried to bury in the snow like a prized chew bone to be retrieved at a later date, but not before I got a kiss from my best friend. Beard snagged snowflakes melt real fast when you're kissing.

Spring will be here soon, and poor Kotter won't be able to find his icicle, but I will be able to find my mailbox again - so it all evens out.
