First:
This is my favorite time of year. Hoodie season! However, it is also difficult. It's not the cold, or even the snow that I dread this time of year, but the darkness. Driving to work in the darkness, and then driving home in the darkness, it makes me feel like a mole person.
I also believe there is a conspiracy against me to get nothing done at home and then be tired at work. All the shows are back - and some new ones too. My DVR is running white hot with all the recording it's been doing. So last night I was a lump until about 11 trying to "Catch-Up" on all my shows. So sad.
Which resulted in me going to bed way too late, and getting up way too early. IN THE DARKNESS.
This was further complicated by a puppy. My alarm went off, which wakes puppy. He normally sleeps under the blankets and an alarm going off startles him just as much as a human, so he fights his way out from under the blankets. I turn off my alarm and just lay there. Cursing Fox programming and the darkness and my alarm.
Kotter stood over me staring at me. Daring me to get out of bed, but I need to lie there a few minutes and ponder an attempt at getting out of bed. He stared at me some more. I feel like I know his thoughts. They were, "Don't go to work. Just stay in bed with me! It's dark out anyway. And you're tired, and I'm tired. See my yawning? Let's get our snuggle on!"
Then he upped his game by nosing the covers back with this snout and crawling in. I could still hear him though.
"See! See how nice it is to sleep with a puppy! I'm warm and awesome."
He then curled in a ball next to me, resting his chin over my knee.
"Don't work. Snuggle! If you get up, you'll ruin my head resting on you. I'm cute."
It was at this point I questioned my need to work not only today but ever. Then realized "puppy snuggler" while an awesome title did not have health insurance or 401k option.
Blog 2:
Gabe and I drove in together. Early and I'd like to point out IN THE DARKNESS.
I went to the lunchroom grabbed myself a lemonade and settled in at my desk at the insane hour of 7:28.
My instant message immediately went off.
Gabe: What are you doing here so early?
Me: Excuse me, but do I know you?
Gabe: We met once on our way to the crapper. It was awkward...we both tried to go left, then right, then gave up and just soiled ourselves and did a walk of shame back to our desks.
It's going to be a good day kids!
