I just attended my very first Wild game last night.
And in the freakin lap o'luxury to boot!
It was so much fun. I will gladly go back and park my hiney in a $15 nosebleeder seat. I forgot how much fun live hockey is. I know I know, how could SCSU girl forget how much fun live hockey is...mea culpa!
The Xcel really is a fabulous as everyone was bragging it up to be. Beats the hell out of the metrodome that's for damn sure. I got to sit in a suite - because I am special. Stop laughing - I am special damnit!!
It was very cool. The first time I have ever been in a suite for any type of event. Extra cushy seats, tables to set your beer, a whole lounge type area, a computer, big screen TV - and seats some how magically perched over the ice for perfect viewing. The suites themselves are even on a special level. So we aren't disturbed by the comonors I guess. We got our own waitstaff, special food, and better prettier bathrooms. Even the paper towels were better on the suite level. SUCK IT YOU LOWLY SERFS IN THE NOSE BLEEDS!
It was a blast, and a total blowout on the part of the Wild (something this Vikings fan has forgotten what it's like to feel). Well almost a total blow out. The dumbass Ducks scored one goal in like the last 15 seconds of the game. Which seriously - that shouldn't even have counted at all. Not because it was a questionable goal - just because it's too late to even matter so you don't get any!!
Plus there were two fights!! It felt so wrong to cheer and hoot, but god have mercy upon my black soul there I was - screaming "YEAH KICK HIS ASS SEABASS!!"
It was all fun. I love the crowd atmopshere of live games. And I also love our personal anthem...
We were raised
With the stick
And a pair of blades
On the ice we cut our teeth
We took our knocks
In the penalty box
Our mother was the referee
This sport was here
Before we came
It will be here when we're gone
The game's in our blood
And our blood's in the game
Lay us down under
A frozen pond
We will fight to the end
We will stand and defend
Our flag flying high and free
We were born the child
Of the strong and wild
In the state the state
Of hockey
A big blue line runs around our state
A line that can't be crossed
The day they try to take this game
Is the day the gloves come off
We will fight to the end
We will stand and defend
Our flag flying high and free
We were born the child
Of the strong and wild
In the state the state
Of hockey.
*sigh* Hockey - it's good to have you back in my life. I missed you and needed you more than I realized.
