Don't judge -- as much as I'd like to say these pictures still have boxes in them because I took them the day after we moved in, that's just lies. We still have lots of unpacking to do. Once I found the dishes, pans, and toilet paper, I kind of stopped and saw everything else as less of priority. Mostly what's left is books and DVDs. Yeah...we do have a lotta lotta books...cripes! I don't know who we're trying to impress with all those books, but since we're both book nerds generally can't bring our selves to part with them...sad.
Anyway - this is a self-guided tour, but I will try and give the commentary, just as I would if you were tracking through on person. I care, just that much!
Home
This is the little love shack. Vinyl siding and all new windows. Definately one of the biggest selling points to us. As well as 2 car attached garage...LOVE IT!
I have taken a play straight from the Dianna playbook and made sure to have blooming flowers in the front entry already...wow, silk is really hearty. Even when it gets down to 30 at night still...resiliant little buggers...
Yes, mind the boxes...
To the left if you want to poke your head in the garage you can catch a glimpse of our awesome riding lawn mower.
But if you want to skip that immediately to your right, if you'll just step into the kitchen...
The appliances are all new, the lovely harvest gold counter-top; not so new. The cabinets are solid, just really dark for my tastes and will be getting a hardware update for sure, and I may even get real ambitious and paint them...the greenish blue island in the middle was a gift from Ma Roesch, and I really love it. It's moveable, and adds an extra spot to eat for when we just don't feel like hiking to the dining room. But should we want to eat there, we have the super awesome pass-through, already been totally handy.
Speaking of dining room...
Note the stunning and original smoked bevelled glass and brass light fixture, ain't it a beauty? Yeah - that's also high on the, "Get it out of my damn house" list. I just haven't found "the one" yet to replace it.
We're also on a mission to find a new dining table and chairs. Good god, they all start looking the same after a while, and seriously, what's with all the pub height tables...I get it, it's the new thing...but really, must everything be six inches taller? Shorties don't want to be left hangin'...least not this shorty.
One last look at the dining room as we head upstairs...
The living room:
We have a nice little desk for the laptop for Gabe to do all his homework...yeah the giant weird piece of furniture would be our headboard. That's it's temporary home until I find the right shade of paint for the master bedroom. Until then, we're bunking in the guest room, and our headboard gets to chill in our living room. Classy!
Beyond the couch, let's head down the hall. To the left you'll find the upstairs bathroom.
I wanted to paint it yellow, but ran out of time that week we moved in, so I hung the shower curtain and realized, "hmm - this has peach in it too". So I think lazyness won the day and the upstairs stays peach...at least for a while. However, the light plates are a lovely shade of coppery bronze, while all the other fixtures are chrome, so those are also on the list of "get it the hell out of my house". The cabinets might also get a paint job, they are so dark and will be getting new hardware as well.
On the otherside of the hall is the guest bedroom, which as I said before is our temporary sleeping quarters.
Oh that orange wad of fur on the bed...that's Beef. Say hello to the audience at home Beef...
Eventually I want to do like a niffty asian theme in the guest bedroom. I've always loved that style, and may even get real ambitious and work in some hand-painted mural on the wall -- in the style of an asian painting, but will definately need to enlist the help of Ma Roesch, so we'll see. *Will most likely crap out and just buy neat asian painting*
At the end of the hall is the currently empty master.
My goal for this room will be Tudor inspired because of our huge-ass headboard, and the niffty tapestry style Ralph Lauren bedding I found...love it...
Preview of the bedding:

It has SO MUCH SPACE, and a walk-in closet...YAY! Not much to look at now, but I will make updates when it's all done.
Downstairs
If we head downstairs we'll enter the family room.
Love the walk-out! Just has a little cement pad currently, we're trying to decide if we want a low deck, or just pavers for a cement patio...I want to check into building code for Brooklyn Park, if the low deck requires railings all around it, then I will probably pass, because I don't want to lose my view.
Looking to the right we have the gas fireplace that is currently kaput, but we'll be fixing shortly. Eventually I want to replace that insert with a new one too, that a) works, and b) is more energy efficent.
The other end of the room will eventually be home theater zone. Also on the high priority list is a huge-ass tv. Current TV as you see will have serious size envy, as it should. Gabe and I are both size queens so anything less than 48" is to be immediately scorned.
The chairs are new. Our first furniture purchase. Eventually once the comfy couches are bought for down here, these are getting moved over to in front of the (hopefully by then working) fireplace.
As you can see kittens approve of the purchase:
No, don't be alarmed, our floor is not that slanted, nor did we buy a deffective chair, beef is just that top heavy.
To our left is Gabe's Poopitorium.
Down the hall on the left is the laundry and utility room:
Buddy Christ approves of us being able to wash our laundry at home...my god, it's glorious! The angels wept with the first load we did.
And directly across from the holy laundry of our lady of Tide with Bleach is the third bedroom which will be our office.
If you want to follow me out on to the patio now, I'll show you our back yard:
The yard definately needs the most work. A lot of the trees and bushes need to be trimmed up and taken care of. But right now as I type this out, I can smell the lilacs and plum tree. I love spring in Minnesota.
Our back yard really is wild kingdom. We get deer every night around dusk. We have a pair of mallards that hang out on top of our shed. During the day I hear all kinds of birds, but mostly red-wing black birds. At night, I hear crickets and frogs from the pond. And yet I'm still only 10 minutes to downtown Minneapolis. It's AWESOME!
Here are some shots of our neighbors I caught so far:
My appologies for the crap quality - I had to use the digital zoom so they are a bit fuzzy. In this one, the lump on the ground in the lower right is the male mallard.
Close-up on the ducks.
And because today was just too perfect, I wanted you to get to hear all my awesome birds, I did a quick video...nothing special, just perspective on the yard.
So that's it. That's the new digs. Come and visit when you can...as we eventually get things more together, I will make more updates so y'all can see.
Not sure when the first party will be, probably when we get the fire ring done, and have that new dining room table I want to find so desperately. But if you don't mind the boxes you're welcome to visit any time.
Bonus DVD Features
What got left on the cutting room floor of this blog was the kitty condo Ma Roesch ended up building for us with just spare stuff she had around the Roesch Ranch...have I mentioned lately how kick-ass my mom is?!
Copcar LOVES the string with the feathers on it...he can play with that for hours. Before we had the TV hooked up, that's all we did for fun, watch the little black and white bugger go nuts on the feathers.
We lovingly refer to the windows as Kitten TV, because they love to stare out the windows at all the birds and squirrels in the yard.

Super Rawesome! Hooray for seeing your abode before being put on lockdown. I will trust you to keep us posted via pictures, those chairs look super comfy and of course Beef would make the chair slanted. I will say when you throw out the fixture you're probably going to want to hear it break for the satisfaction of knowing no one else can use it.
Looks great! That yard is AMAZING - definitely something I miss about Minnesota!
i dig it.
